The urbanization of Cala Egos attracts tourists form the mainland and also from abroad and provide tranquility and welfare. They are a variety of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and hotels. It is a quiet area to live. Tourists fascinated again wanting to invest or spend your vacation here. The beach is made of fine white sand, with very calm and beautiful crystal blue waters.
An isolated road next to it leads to the Cala Sa Galera difficult to access but great for snorkelling.
A few kms away is the resort of Cala d'Or and the nuclei of Cala Ferrera, Cala Serena and Porto Petro.
Cala d'or is the highest population and largest resort town. There is the monument d'Es Forti, built in Cala Llonga, for garrison during the War of Spanish Succession. The fortress Es Forti was built to protect the coast from the various invaders who came to Mallorca. The fort was built in the mid-1730s, during the War of Spanish Succession, built in stone, an engineering feat worth visiting. You can visit it and contemplate the magnificent sea views and the different bays of the area.
It offers a diversity of Calas with white sand, with narrow entrances,rock walls and very rich and wonderfull seabed. Sa Marina de Cala d'Or is a marina built in 1969 into a natural opening of the coast.
Cala des Pou from where you can see the lighthouse of Es Forti, is another quiet beach with excellent equipment for swimmers, with very fine white sand with palm trees providing shade. A little further you will find the beach of Cala Llamp. |
